The Camelback Ambush has quickly become my go-to hydration carrier for hiking and shooting. It holds a 3L bladder and has 2 compartments to carry additional gear. The main compartment has 2 mesh pockets inside for small items. I like to keep some electrolyte packets, a couple of cleaning tablets and a spare bite valve [...]

The reasons for wanting to choose a Primary Weapon can be anything from a home defense situation to a full blown SHTF situation like riots or extreme natural disasters where rule of law may not have a strong hold. In these situations having a “Primary Weapon” or “Go To” weapon is a good idea. Now [...]

This is the newer version of their Recon Rifle Bag. I have had the original for some time now and have liked it very much. Some of the changes were certainly for the better. If you are in the market for the original you will have a hard time finding them though. Hawkepaks Recon Rifle [...]

Outdoor Research has long been know for making very high quality gear for hiking, camping, mountain climbing, ice climbing and just about anything else one might do outdoors. Picked up an Impact Weapons Components Mount-N-Slot Hand Stop today for my Troy Vtac Battle Rail. This hand stop mounts directly into the slot on the hand guard without the need for a picatinny rail. A photon is a quantum of light, or the smallest possible packet of light at a given wavelength. This very well designed and well made light from LFI lives up to its name. The Freedom Micro is a bright light is a small but tough unit. This light is packed full of features, but is about the size and weight of a US quarter. For a keyring, survival kit, first aid kit or even a zipper pull. The potential uses of this small light are unlimited.

We have used keyring lights from LFI for many years and this new Photon Freedom Micro is another great item from them, that is made in the USA. This light is actually a Fashion Freedom Micro light called the Freedom Micro Combat

We took a few of the electronic outdoor equipment out to compare how they work. We compare features of the Garmin Legend GPS, the Garmin Rino 120 GPS and a Motorola Talkabout T6320 Radio. These are some of the most feature rich units we have found over the years at prices we could afford. These units give us a lot of information and abilities when camping, hiking, hunting, fishing and geocaching. Usually we pass the units around or if everyone has their own radio / GPS then the Rino is carried and the other two units are carried in the pack as backups.

Together these three units offer; two GPS Units, two Two Way Radios, two Compasses, three Altimeters, a radio scanner, national weather radio, barometer, sun and moon charts and a lot more.
